School Policy: Useful Facts from A to Z

This page is a glossary of commonly encountered topics regarding the Berlin Community Daycare & Preschool Policies and Procedures and the licensing regulations set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. All of the policies and regulations have been written and are enforced with your child’s safety and wellbeing in mind. Many of your questions can be answered here. If not, please give us a call. You can access our Policies and Procedures Handbook below. You can also find more information by clicking on the links to the left.

Illness

Little children often get sick. You should keep your child at home throughout the duration of the illness so as to expedite the healing process and avoid getting the other children sick. When your child is ready to return to day care, we would appreciate a note from their doctor indicating that they are free from contagions. In some cases a doctor’s note is required to return to daycare. If your child is sick please let us know immediately and we will give you information relevant to that particular illness.

Children’s Dress Code

At Berlin Community Daycare, safety is of upmost importance. That’s why we ask that you send your child is clothing that allows them to play safely while at daycare. Flip-flops and other backless shoes such as clogs or slippers are not permitted. Please dress your children in shoes or sandals with securely fitting straps behind the heels. You are welcome to keep a separate pair of shoes here if you would like.

Children’s Schedule Changes

We try to be as flexible as possible in order to accommodate your busy, ever changing schedule. However, it is very important to the Berlin Community Daycare & Preschool to be in continual compliance with State regulation. Part of remaining compliant is strict adherence to the child to staff ratios that have been outlined by the Department of Children and Families. The change or addition of scheduled time affects the number of staff members required. For this reason, changes to your child’s schedule must be made 2 weeks prior to the date of the change and early drop off is not permitted.

Absence or Late Drop-off Notification

If a child does not arrive at the center within 30 minutes of their scheduled arrival time it is our policy to call the parents and/or guardians to locate the child. For this reason, it’s very important to take a moment or two to let us know if your child is going to be late or abscent. It saves both the center and the parents time and spares the staff from worrying that something might be wrong.

No Cash

It is Berlin Community Daycare & Preschool policy to accept only check or money order for payment.
